Deca Wakeboard: Wakes up your daring side!

My sister got home from Manila and it’s been a while that we went out together so we planned for a great activity before she’ll leave us again. We searched in the net to check some activities that we can possibly do that is located not too far away from Davao. Luckily, we saw the ads of Deca WakeBoard Park which is located at Barangay Mintal Davao City, around 45 min. travel from the City’s downtown area.

We found the perfect get away! So we decided to visit the place and see if we can do it since we imagined it to be very arduous. We enjoyed the travel going there. It is not difficult to find the place since it is known to the residents of Mintal. I’ll tell you how to get there.

You can ride a jeepney from Roxas St. since Jeepneys that travels to Barangay Mintal pass through that area. Just enjoy the ride and alight at Mintal gym. When you reached that place, you can ride a tricycle or a cab. Deca Wakeboard Park is around 5-10 min ride from Mintal Gym and it is close to Deca Homes Resort Residences.

As we approached the main entrance, we already saw some guys doing the knee and wake board. Suddenly, the itch to do it myself arises. So we asked the in-charge if we can start as soon as we are ready but we are told that it is not open for players yet. We need to wait for an hour since the Wednesday schedule starts at 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM then resumes at 1:30 PM – 5:30 PM. Additionally, schedules for Mon, Tue, Thu, Sat and Sun starts at 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM and resumes at 1:30 PM – 5:30 PM. The rates by the way, depends on residency. Regular Rates are 1000 PHP for Whole Day Play and 700 PHP for Half Day Play. For Davao Residents Only the rate is 700 PHP for Whole Day Play and 500 PHP for Half Day Play. Another rate for Deca Homes Resort Residents applies. Each rate includes the wakeboard, the vest and the helmet.

Before we start, we were told to gather for a short coaching since most of us are newbies. The game is thrilling and at the same time risky. The thing is the in charge asked us to sign a waiver that we will play at our    own risk. But despite the danger, nobody draw back. Who would? The fee is expensive. Hahaha!

Anyway, we learned that we can’t actually do the wakeboard on our first try. We need to take a crack and master the knee board first to become more familiar of the game. The first ride is not easy. I splashed when I almost reached the starting point it is because it’s very hard to navigate and pass between orange buoy. If you missed that, be prepared to be towed powerfully. What ever happens after that, just let go and release your wake board to avoid accidents. Give it a try, it’s worth it! Don't forget to bring your camera to capture perfect moments.
